Jennifer Wells China, Ph.D.

Jennifer Wells China, Ph.D., has been Hillsborough Community College’s (HCC) SouthShore Campus President since January 2018. A South Carolina native, she brings a wealth of experience and a record of exceptional leadership to the SouthShore campus and community. China holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from the University of Texas in Austin, a Master of Arts in management from National University and a Bachelor of Arts and Science in interdisciplinary studies from Bennett College.

She shares her philosophy “You Are The College” with administration, faculty, and staff as a foundation of her dedication and commitment to student success. A servant leader, she is a board member for: Big Brothers Big Sister of Tampa Bay, the SouthShore Chamber of Commerce, the Hillsborough County Public Art Committee, and the Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity of the American Association of Community Colleges. China is the recipient of the 2017 HCC Champion of Diversity and Exemplary Administrator award. During her first year as HCC SouthShore Campus President, HCC SouthShore was recognized as the 2018-2019 Non-Profit of the Year.
