Apartment Maintenance Technician

Pasco-Hernando State College in partnership with the Bay Area Apartment Association (BAAA), is offering a 12-month apprenticeship program for the spring semester at the Spring Hill Campus. The Apartment Maintenance Technician (AMT) Apprenticeship program prepares students for the increasing need for well-trained service technicians in a rapidly growing rental housing industry.

The AMT Apprenticeship will provide 183 hours of in-classroom, related technical instruction and will place the apprentices (students) with a leading property management company where they will complete 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training. Students must complete a combined total of 2,183 hours over the course of the year-long program.

Description: The Apartment Maintenance Technician - Related Technical Instruction (RTI) course is lab-driven and designed for the apprentices to develop skills that include appliance repair, HVAC diagnosis and repair, basic electrical, basic plumbing, carpentry, punch skills, and exterior maintenance.

Apprentices will also complete OSHA 10 training prior to being placed on-the-job.

Description: The Apartment Maintenance Technician - On-the-Job-Training (OJT) is an in-the-field course where the apprentices will be paid an hourly rate as they apply learned skills over the course of the year-long program. Apprentices will work alongside a journeyperson/supervisor and practice skills such as appliance repair, HVAC diagnosis and repair,  basic electrical, basic plumbing, carpentry, punch skills, and exterior maintenance.

    Coming Summer 2023

    Construction & Design Apprenticeship Program, North Campus, Brooksville

    The Construction & Design Apprenticeship program prepares students for the increasing need for skilled construction workers in a rapidly growing residential housing industry. This program will provide 205 hours of in-classroom, related technical instruction and will place the apprentices (students) with leading general contractors in the area where they will complete 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training. Student must complete a combined total of 2,205 hours over the course of the year-long program.
