PHSC offers training courses that will prepare students for critical and vital careers in a variety of health science settings. To determine the best pathway to success based on their interests and career goals students should consult with an Academic Advisor.

Applied Mental Health Counseling Skills 1 with Digital Badge

Description: The Applied Mental Health Counseling Skills 1 course provides critical thinking and basic counseling skills for law enforcement, first responders, human services professionals, and students that come in contact with individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders. This course will provide an overview of psychological disorders, counseling theories, and how to provide services to individuals with mental health disorders. Digital Badge awarded upon successful completion of course and all related assignments.

Description: The Applied Mental Health Counseling Skills 2 course provides advanced critical thinking and basic counseling skills for law enforcement, first responders, human services professionals and students that come into contact with individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders. This course will provide hands-on experience on how to apply basic counseling skills ethically. Students will learn how to provide mental health crisis intervention, family counseling skills and group therapy skills. Digital Badge awarded upon successful completion of course and all related assignments.
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR/Instructor Course

Course: NCH0066 (AHA BLS Instructor)

Cost: An AHA BLS Provider Manual MUST be purchased prior to attending course NCH0050. PHSC College Store (Product #20-1102) for $29.00 plus tax or opt-out and order from the AHA for $15.80 (print) or $18.50 (electronic).
Description: This American Heart Association CPR course provides information about heart disease, risk factors, signals and action for survival, prudent heart living, and heart and lung function. It includes instruction in one rescuer CPR, management of foreign body airway obstruction, two rescuer CPR, the use of barrier devices, the use of an automated external defibrillator and use of the bag mask resuscitator. The student must pass a written and performance-based evaluation.
Be sure to bring your manual with you on the day of your class; if not purchased you will be required to reschedule your class.

If you are a current PHSC student and have taken classes within the last term, please skip to Step 3.
If you are a new student or haven’t attended classes within the last term, please apply and complete a Career & Job Training Application: Apply Here.

Once your Career & Job Training Application has been processed and you have set up both your SLATE Application Portal and your Bobcat Portal, you may move forward with registration steps outlined below. (Please allow 24-48 business hours for application processing.)

Please note, if you are registering for a non-credit CE course, you only need to submit a Career & Job Training application and do not need to apply through the Admissions Office.
