Technology Courses

PHSC’s variety of technology courses will prepare students for careers in computer programming, cyber security, tech support, network support, and other computer science fields. Select from a variety of individual courses to further your knowledge or choose a certificate track. Individual courses and certificate courses may apply to the associate degree. Students should consult with an Academic Advisor to determine the best pathway to success based on their interests and career goals.

Career and job training scholarships may be available.

Certified CompTIA Security+ - Cybersecurity

Description: This 6-week course will prepare students to sit for the CompTIA Security+ SYO-601 examination to gain industry certification as a CompTIA Security+ professional. Cybersecurity skills are in-demand in a variety of IT positions. And CompTIA Security+ certification is the industry standard for launching IT security careers in the digital world today.

Certified Python Coding Specialist (PCS) - Cybersecurity

Course:  NCC0102-0301 (hybrid)
Dates: June 4 – Aug. 27
Days: Saturday and online
Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Description: This 13-week course will prepare students to sit for the Certified Python Coding Specialist (PCS) examination to gain industry certification as a Python programming professional. Python programming is easy for beginners to learn and widely used in cybersecurity and scientific data exploration areas. Students will learn about data types and expressions, control program flow, create interactive input and output operations, troubleshoot for errors and bugs, document and structure source code, and perform operations using modules and tools.

 

Certified CompTIA Linux+ - Cybersecurity

Description: This 13-week course will prepare students to sit for the CompTIA Linux+ XK0-004 certification examination.  This class introduces students to Linux, the most widely used operating system in the cyber and cloud computing environments today.  Students will learn the Linux operating systems, file management concepts and components, data extraction, command scripting, security concepts and develop virtual machine skills.

 

Certified CompTIA A+

Description: This 12-week course will prepare students to sit for the Core I and Core II CompTIA A+ certification exams. Students will learn the fundamental concepts of installation, configuration, and maintenance of PCs and related software/hardware; how to assemble and disassemble components to specification; and apply troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues. CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for launching IT careers in the digital world today.

Certified CompTIA Network+

Description: This 10-week course prepares students to sit for the CompTIA Network+ N10-007 examination to gain industry certification as a CompTIA Network+ professional. Building and maintaining networks are among the most important skills to have as an IT professional today. This certification confirms that you have the knowledge needed to configure and troubleshoot both wireless and wired hardware and will make you stand out among job candidates.

Certified CompTIA IT Fundamentals+

Course: NCC0106-0305 (virtual)
Dates: June 7 – July 26
Days: Tues., Thurs.
Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
Hours: 30 (remote access)
Cost: $995

Description: This 8-week course will prepare students to sit for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ certification exam, FCO-U61. This class focuses on the essential IT skills and knowledge needed to execute tasks commonly performed by entry-level IT professionals and advanced end-users alike. Students will learn skills that include using features and functions of common operating systems and establishing network connectivity, how to identify common software applications and their purpose, as well as using security and web browsing best practices.

Steps to Register
  1. Visit PHSC Career and Job Training Registration page.
  2. Select the current term in the drop-down menu.
  3. Select Continue, then select Continuing Education.
  4. Select Course Type.
  5. Select Search.
  6. Select the desired class shopping cart icon to add it to the shopping cart.
  7. Select View Cart to display the course selection, view fees, etc.
  8. Proceed to checkout, enter your student ID number for existing students or your social security number; follow the prompts to receive a student ID number.
  9. Complete the online payment.
